Every year, on the same day in December, i call you and wish you happy birthday.  You talk in the sultry voice that makes me melt on the inside and I forget everything you ever put me through over the years. But when I hang up the phone, I feel empty. (more…)

I remember where I was when my mom told me my grandfather had died.  I was sitting in my father’s house.  I don’t remember why, but I was alone and couldn’t have been older than 14.  The house was dark, despite the large window on the left of me.  I was getting my jacket on, heading out the door to play with a friend down the street when the phone rang.

My mother’s tone scared me.  She was serious… very serious.  She asked me if anyone had called me.  I told her no.  She told me that what she’s about to say is difficult to hear.  I sat silently until the news was broken.  I cried in the recliner in the living room, alone.

Dear Audience,

As an actor, I appreciate the fact that you come and support the arts, especially in such a shitty financial crisis.  But, as both a theatre goer and an actor, I’ve noticed little things that seem to be a staple of seeing a live show. Now, before I say this, let me preface it.  Not all theatre goers do these things, in fact, 95% of the audience don’t do these things.  In fact, most of the things on this list are things I find annoying while watching a show.

I was going to get that TV, I could see it.  The black plastic was sliced open with a fine razor, revealing the beautiful, awe-inspiring treasure I’d waited so long to obtain.  It was almost time.  After five hours of anticipation, the moment was almost upon us.  I glanced at Maurice, who gave me a gentle nod with a stern look.  Vet was standing in front of me, talking loudly to his daughter over the hum of the crowd around us.  I clenched my shopping cart and looked at my phone.  4:59… I had less than a minute.  I secured my phone and made a game plan in my head.  The manager’s signaled the passing of 5 o’clock and everyone ran wildly.  I surged the cart forward, I was getting my damn TV…

New Series of Blogs December 1, 2008

Nothing really all that interesting has happened to me lately so i started thinking.  In order to keep incoming traffic I need to post more.  But what about?

1.  I’ll be doing a weekly movie review of some sort of a new film in theaters, completely alot like my twilight review, where it’s a review of the overall experience, not just the film itself.

2.  Regular blogging about how random shit/funny stories as they happen to me.

3.  Retro Blogs.  Now, this is a new one.  I can’t keep just waiting for something to happen in my life to give me something to write about so I’m going to start with some adventures from my past.  It’ll be things that mean something to me, and for some reason remember vividly.  Probably because there will be an emotional tie to it, but whatever, it’ll be fun.

These are three things I am beginning today as we speak.  They will be in three different categories.

I hope you enjoy.

First and foremost, I will not make any excuses for why I went to see Twilight at the midnight showing.  I’m a huge pop-culture guy and an even bigger film buff so I need to see everything, regardless of the project itself.  The way I see things is how can I have an opinion about films if I don’t see them?  For instance, I personally hate Paul WS Anderson films with a passion but I try to see everyone one because I can’t say he;s one of the worst writers/directors in the business without seeing all he’s done.  Well shit… looks like I’m making an excuse… fuck it, who cares.

At the point that my head hit the pillow, it was around 3:30.  I struggled, even though intoxicated, to sleep and unsuccessfully laid there, staying at the dim light cast upon the ceiling from my cell phone.  I was very, very tired and decided I needed water.  Of course, the second I felt like getting up I passed out to a nice, long sleep.

By nice and long I actually short and freezing.  See, we still only have a damn space heater in our apartment and I’m not sure how the thing works, but I’m convinced it doesn’t.  My alarm went off at 8 AM.  Which was good and bad.
Bad because I was hung over as hell and I was already late for work.  Good because I slept in an extra hour.  I called work and informed them of my tardiness and drove to work, only to stop for coffee.

On Friday, I really needed a drink.

I had been depressed all day and it seemed like no matter what I did, nothing went right. So, I did the only thing I knew how to do… Invited over some friends and we went drinking. Now, before we go any further, let me fill you in on these friends of mine. Obviously, I’m going to change the names, because this isn’t the best story to tell if the real names are attached. So, I called John and asked him to come over and hang out. He seemed to be having girl problems. Apparently he is head-over-heels for a girl and she doens’t want a relationship. The hang out six days a week, but no relationship is to be had. He tries and tries and just pushes her further and further away. So, he decided he wasn’t going to try. He handed me his phone and said under no circumstances am I to give him the phone if she texts of calls. I agreed to this decision and we headed off to Molly Brooks.
